Abstract

Indonesia has been known as a rich nation in culture, one of the culture archipelago is a Batak woven called Ulos. This woven become the identity of Batak society, throughout the development era value of its sanctity is feared would be eroded if not preserved quickly and have an alternative along the progress of era without destroying the value of the sanctity of the Ulos Batak itself. For centuries Ulos has become one of the medium of cultural expression that blends into the cultural structure of society.It was proved by Batak communities that ties to Ulos, both for the basic customs and beliefs that they inherited. In this context Ulos as the one of culture archipelago will face a serious case, such as :  Loads the values that has been written in design and pattern will .. by economic and politic interest are ongoing.  The Flow of Ulos commercialization in the realm of cultural life of the Batak people redudantly will tend to result in consumption trends that may affect the traditional events as the political mainstream and the market economy. Commercialization, which accompanied the trends and fashion in the market, continue to occur so that tends to the values that exist are not placed on the public entity tradition.
